What does fulfillment look like? Wheel of Work – Part 2

If you don’t know what a wheel of work is, read this first: last post.

So, you’ve done your wedges and you rated them. Great work! Now it’s time to take action. Possibility without action is a mere concept or dream and we want action.

The cool thing about the wheel is that you can be really inventive in terms of what you do with it. It really depends what kind of breakthrough you are looking for. I will give you 2 examples of exercises and invite you to come up with your own.

1. The baby step: Pick one wedge and commit to one action you can take today (or better: right now) in order up your rating by one point.

One of my wedges is ‘Connection”. The current score is 7. The action I am taking to up my score to an 8 is:
Write a blog post.

2. The long term vision: This one will take a bit longer and it will also have a bigger impact!
Take time and write out for each wedge what a 10 would look like!

For me, ‘Making a difference’ (currently at a 6) at a 10 would look like this: “The linked Team is a company with dozens, if not hundreds of consultants/coaches that create job fulfillment for thousands and thousands of people thereby changing corporations and with that society.”

Pretty awesome. Got me excited just writing this down!

And there are many other ways to work with the wheel. To read about another one, check out what participants of the ‘Alive with Work’ group are experiencing.

The instruction was to note the score at the beginning of the day and then again at the end. Here is what NJ experienced:

” Todays Wedge: ‘Working with others’. Before the start of the day that rated at a 2, now near the end today I have rated it a 6.
Why the shift: I put the intention on the wedge and also on my responsibility to look to me first. I can change me but I can not change other people… Using some new found skills from this gerat book that Nicole recommended to me, I tried to communicate in a way that effectively communicated my needs in a respectful manner and got pleasant results.”

Now that’s radical in my book!

Now you go for it and if you come up with another awesome idea, let me know. I am always looking for more.
